While watching a film, viewers might ponder its legitimacy, questioning if what they're seeing on screen can happen in real life. Artificial intelligence is no different. AI is being heavily developed and utilized now to edit and amplify films, but the depths of its use has also been explored in futuristic, science-fiction movies like "The Matrix" or "I, Robot." With the rise of AI platforms, including ChatGPT, AI appears to be infiltrating every industry.

Robots are a common factor in many sci-fi movies, as they've always seemed like something a futuristic society would have. Of course, as society progresses, there are some real life robots now, maybe even within your own home. While we may have numerous examples of artificial intelligence nowadays, one thing we still haven't discovered (for better or worse) is making these robots actually sentient, something we still only see in fiction. While this topic remains fictional, there are many movies who like to play with the idea of robots coming to life and gaining their own sentience. There are many different ways to play with the subject too.

Most of us first get to experience about AI through Sci-Fi movies. You might have watched at least one AI movies from all time favorite AI movies such as Metropolis, Terminator, Blade Runner, Wall-E, Ex-Machine etc. But not like in the movies, AI in real life is not even closer to what we see in them even up to today. So where did it all start in real life? And how did it start?

Sense8 was an eight-hour Netflix Original series created by Lana and Andy Wachowski, and J. Michael Straczynski. The science fiction series starred eight characters worldwide, connected by a bond that can be felt through every sense. Sense8 follows the inhabitants of Chicago, who are all connected by more than just two or three senses; they are experiencing everything that their counterparts are seeing, sensing, hearing, and feeling. The series is a love story between two characters, and as they become more connected to their sense counterparts, they begin to feel their partners' pain. They also carry the responsibility of protecting their loved ones that are constantly in danger and fighting for freedom from some sort of outside threat.

In fact, Markets and Markets predicts that that the worldwide market for AI systems could be worth $16.06 billion by 2022. Interestingly, as AI becomes a bigger part of daily life, it also seems to be playing a bigger role in the entertainment industry. Already this decade, filmmakers have put out at least 30 feature films featuring an A.I. character in a key role. By comparison, our research turned up just 19 notable AI movies from the 2000s, 14 from the 1990s and 10 from the 1980s.
